My first impression of a piece I saw at an art gallery on TMCC Dandini campus was called," Intermittent Looming" was tall grass moving in a summer breeze. I thought this because it has really tall grass like figures and it seems as if it being moved by a breeze. This picture reminded me of when I was a child living in Mexico I used to hang out in our sugar cane and corn fields. I would just lay on the ground looking up into the sky on a warm summer day and just think about my life and make figures out of the clouds. The piece really reminded me of my childhood and cause me to think of peace and prosperity. The picture looks really calm as if there is no worries, no need for anything, as if its just meant to put you in a trance and relax you so that you too can come at peace.

The picture that I think that fits role #4 is by Faith Ringgold "God Bless America". Faith Ringgold was born on October 8, 1930 in Harlem and she started painting 35 years ago. She has been painting for 35 years and is now best known for her quilts and storytelling. This painting was made during the Civil Rights Movement and had to do with the prejudice towards the African Americans. The picture had to do with the struggles that her community were facing while trying to gain equal rights. The women is portrayed as a racist denying African American the right to vote and is a prisoner to her own bigotry. As you can tell that she only uses red, white, and blue colors in the picture. She also uses a star which is meant to be a sheriff's badge and the rectangles are meant to be jail bars. She has exhibits in major museums all around the world.  Ringgold is not just a painter but she also is a a witter. Her very first book she wrote was Tar Beach which won a lot of honors. She has received more than 75 awards, fellowships, citations and honors.
Here are some of her books:

Chester Arnold Project

Chester Arnold’s art work seems to me that his main focus of his art work is about global warming and how we the people of the earth are destroying the beautiful and natural environment. We are destroying the environment by throwing trash everywhere and into the deep blue seas. It seems as if he does these painting because he is trying to send us a message saying that the environment is like a picture its worth a million words and that if we don’t take care of it, it’s going to get ruined. The environment is a precious thing and if we don’t learn from our mistakes now it’s going to end up bad for us.
The Chester Arnold’s piece that I chose to write about is titled “Thy Will be done, 2006”. My first impression when I saw this painting really reminded me of the Holocaust because of how the people were grouped up and injured. The surrounding area reminds me of how an internment camp looked like. In the top left hand corner was a ditch that looked to be made to bury the dead people around all around the picture. The Police officer seems to be just standing around not really caring about the violence or the crimes that are going on in the picture.
It seems to me that the meaning of the picture is that the people in have lost hope and the will to live. It is as if GOD has abandoned them and they choose not to have the will to fight and live anymore. The men who are mad in the picture could be frustrated with the way they are being treated in this picture. There was no description on this picture but this would be my best interpretation of this painting.
